Sauli Sirviö:
Never Going Home
15.9.–7.10.2012
_

Never Going Home is a video installation by Sauli Sirviö
(b. 1980) that documents a couple who have fled home after facing a suspended prison sentence. The documentary observes the everyday life of the two lovers in a world of their own, as outlaws in a foreign culture, without a home or a place of refuge. The multifaceted documentary reflects the notion of return and its impossibility. The relationship between society and an individual on the verge of alienation is examined through the lens of media commentary and news coverage. The couple's world is an isolated utopia that the media molds into its own reality. Between these two worlds, separated into parallel realities, they reflect their own identities.
