Karri Kuoppala:
Experiments with Light
13.10.–4.11.2012
_

The exhibition "Experiments with Light" in SIC gallery shows recent paintings by the artist Karri Kuoppala.
_
Photographs taken by the artist, picked from books and from the daily flow of news are remixed and function as starting points for the diary like paintings. With little use of color, black, white and blue grey shades Kuoppala paints portraits and still lifes in which there is an echo of memento mori and a hint of magical realism. Kuoppala is intrigued by the now-moment and the undeniable fact of impermanence.
